The addiction crisis is sweeping the nation, and with it, our offices. Navigating the complexities of addiction in the workplace can be daunting, confusing and complicated – but it doesn’t have to be. Raising awareness for the opioid epidemic is important, but so is educating the public and arming communities with the knowledge and resources to cope, help and make a change.
In March, Spectrum Health Systems sponsored and spoke at a Worcester Business Journal event aimed at doing just that. Our CEO, Kurt Isaacson, discussed the role employers play in the lives of those seeking treatment and how they can prepare and address the epidemic’s impact in the workplace.
The message was impactful and important, and we didn’t want the conversation to stop there. Join us on Tuesday, June 27 at 4:30pm ET on the New England Recovery Center Facebook page for a Facebook Live panel that will address how to deal with addiction in the workplace. The Worcester Business Journal’s health editor, Emily Micucci, will be moderating a candid Q&A with Kurt, former NERC client, Brian Keith, and his HR representative, Elaine Stone of Savers Bank.
You’ll hear Brian’s powerful story of addiction’s impact, and how Savers Bank helped, and continues to help him on his path to recovery. You’ll also hear expert insights on the epidemic and tips on how our local businesses can be prepared to help. We encourage viewers to participate by submitting their questions for Kurt, Emily, Brian and Elaine via the comments section.
